My son loves hockey. I love hockey. And now I am helping out with on-ice coaching of his hockey team.
It is an absolute riot. I have a zamboni load of fun each practice. I think I might be having more fun on the ice than the kids.
But with three or four days a week on ice in skates, it’s getting even tougher to get up and out the door to run on pavement in shoes each morning.
I’m trading some run time for rink time, and wouldn’t have it any other way as the time with the kids learning the game and especially the added time with my own kid is much more rewarding than a 9k run in the rain and wind.
