How to not get sick of running part 7

Find the middle ground.

When faced with the option of night run or sleep in, hills or intervals, long run or quick out and back, winter toque or no hat, running the coast or staying in town, drinking beer with dinner or drinking beer as dinner…I try to find the middle ground.

I’ll run some hilly intervals and cover a comfortable distance after work while wearing my baseball hat, head a  little ways out of town and return to weave through the streets, and then have a glass of wine because I’m all out of beer.


Not running too much, not taking it too seriously, and not stressing about the thing that helps me to unwind keeps me grounded. In the middle.
