music Running

Unchained melodies

June 13, 2015

I don’t always run to music. For longer runs I prefer a podcast. Sometimes I go earbudless (new word!) and listen to the birds, frogs, waves, my breathing, life around me.

But when I do tune in to tunes, they aren’t top 40, they aren’t classic pump up tunes, they aren’t what everyone keeps telling me are “normal” running songs.

So, here are a few of my favourite, perhaps unconventional, run along diddies:

An Ocean Between the Waves by The War on Drugs

Daylight by Matt and Kim

Haiti by The Arcade Fire

Midnight City by M83

Birthday by Kings of Leon

Young Blood by The Naked and Famous

Book Club by the Arkells

Don’t Swallow the Cap by The National

These are just 8 of the songs that unchain me and get me striding over that pavement with enthusiasm.

Happy runnin’.
